COLUMBIA GOLDEN ALUMINUM SMELTER, GOLDENDALE WASHINGTON
Columbia Golden Aluminum Smelter is located along the Columbia River adjacent to the John Day Dam near Goldendale, Washington. The plant ceased operation in 2003 and since 2015 is undergoing a Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study. Plateau Geoscience Group LLC is part of the property owner’s project team and provides technical lead services for scoping and implementation of the RI. The RI is investigating soil within the former operating plant area, wetland soil, Columbia River sediment, groundwater, and collection and conveyance systems for plant and industrial waste, stormwater, and groundwater collection. The work is being conducted under an Agreed Order with Washington Department of Ecology. Stakeholders include state, county. local, and tribal governments.
